Facts About Modular Church Buildings

By Ruth Hughes

Modular buildings are the kind of buildings or structures that are manufactured in a factory setting before being transported for installation in the designated place of use. All activities that relate to the process of production are carried out in a controlled environment within a factory setting. As such, there are very many advantages that are associated with this kind of production.

When modular buildings were introduced initially, they had very many shortcomings that made people to develop a bad attitude about them. Some of these shortcomings include weakness in the structure, lack of varied designs, poor quality, high cost, and lack of manufacturers. However, over time as technology improved, these structures have gained more popularity and adoption. Today, the quality in modular church buildings is the same as that of conventional housing.

The various benefits linked to modular housing are discussed below. The first benefit is that it takes a shorter time to construct these structures. A period of less than two months can be taken to construct small modular houses from the foundation to the roof. Factors like automation, greater repeatability, and greater teamwork are the ones that help to shorten the construction time.

Depending on the location, the transportation of the structure to the site can take a day or so. The installation can be completed in a matter of days too. Thus, everything is done faster and with a greater level of precision. Transportation is done using trucks that are capable of carrying wide and heavy loads. Each module is transported singly to avoid incidents on the road.

The initial modular houses lacked design which was a big problem. The incorporation of various designs given the nature of prefabricated homes was difficult. However, changes have occurred and in modern buildings almost any design can be incorporated. Advancements in technology have played a big role in the ability to make prefab buildings of various designs. Moreover, it is possible to endlessly expand a building by adding more modules.

This has made it possible for property owners to expand the sizes of their buildings to whichever size they prefer. The durability and capability of enduring damages that storms and natural phenomena cause has improved too. Conventional buildings are less durable when compared to prefabricated structures. This factor has majorly contributed to the preference of these structures by people.

The acoustics incorporated into modular buildings are much better compared to those of traditional homes. In conventional housing, sound easily passes through ceilings and walls into the interior of the house. It is for this reason that noise suppression is achieved by installing floating floors. In modular construction, every module is a stand-alone unit, which prevents the transfer of noise.

In case two module come in contact with one another, protection is installed to prevent transfer of noise. Also, damage in one unit can be handled independently without affecting other units. This makes cost of maintenance and even insurance much lower. Improvements in the characteristics of modular homes have made getting finances to acquire one much easier.
