Discovering Diversity Training Baltimore MD

While some improvement has been made over the years, inclusion remains a real issue in a number of environments. Whether in society at large, or in the workplace, Diversity Training Baltimore MD and other areas can often be of assistance in eliminating some of these issues. In Baltimore, the Attorney General, being the one in charge of monitoring and reviewing infractions in this area has seen the importance of resolving these issues first hand.

The current Attorney General is now enforcing and administering State and Federal laws to assure employers are providing safe and fair work environments. In doing so, the office is intent on eliminating biases, discrimination, harassment and retaliation not only in the workplace but in the community at large. For, the Attorney General believes that it is important to reflect the needs of all such communities living and operating in the state.

The Attorney General sees diversity as a good thing in that it promotes problem solving and increases productivity in the community and workplace. In the process, client relationships become stronger over time. Whereas, diversity also portrays a commitment towards equality and justice for all those living and working in the state.

In alignment with this commitment, the office has now developed a number of initiatives to hire a diverse staff also working with community members. One of these programs includes the OAG Diversity Committee which was created to foster a culturally sensitive and diverse workplace. To date, the committee has focused on four main areas which include advice and legislation, training and education, events, programs, hiring and retention.

In a program called Unconscious Bias Training, individuals are educated on how the unconscious mind works. In most cases, individuals are not even aware that biases exist. As such, the class discusses the importance of these hidden biases in the decision making process and how to eliminate such biases in the future.

The Community Law in Action Corporate Mentoring Program in association with the CLIA's Law and Leadership Academy trains high school juniors and seniors in the greater Baltimore area. In this program, students learn how to locate internships in different areas of the legal field while developing and strengthening existing skills. In many cases, these programs and internships are the first access students have to a professional work environment.

Several area law firms are also working to attract diverse students who have shown exceptional leadership qualities. In most cases, those doing so have been active in a number of community and public service programs while still in high school. As a result, the program has resulted in creating a pipeline of qualified and diverse individuals whom are now interested in working in the legal field.

Whether attending private or state based training programs, it is important to avoid scams. For, there are individuals and groups offering these types of training programs whom have no experience in the area. As a result, it is often recommended that anyone interested in attending this type of training run a background check on any individual or company offering these type of programs outside the Office of the Attorney General of the State of Maryland.
